Some often used abbreviations -
- SS = Social Security
- BT = Blood Type
- DOB = Date Of Birth
- PCN = Penicillin
- PLZ = Please
- RTN = Return
- NKA = No Known Allergies
- NKDA = No Known Disabilities

- USA - Consider using after zip code example: NV, 89501 USA

Please be aware, most on-line dog tag websites use the rusting Asian made tag blanks, not good.
|
Some considerations -
- if you are not using all five lines,
leave one line blank under the name to set it off
- use the hyphen and asterick symbols to set off a name.
If there is room, leave a space before and after the name
ie: * JOHN * or - DAVID
- or ** FIDO ** or *...LASSIE...*
If the sixth line is utilized -
- when the sixth line is added to the dog tag,
the spacing between the lines one through six
diminishes slightly to accommodate the additional line.
In other words all the lines are squeezed together slightly.
NO other company offers the sixth line . . .
It is suggested NOT to use a comma ( , ) on any lines, except the
sixth line as it hangs down and can touch the character below it

If a rubber silencer is used -
be aware that the silencer can partially cover some of the letters
this is normal, however a lot of time this can be avoided,
if desired -
if your longest line is 15 or 16 characters and spaces or less,
simply indent each of your lines one space before typing in text.
this will center the text in the area exposed within the silencer.
If using 6 lines it is impossible NOT to HAVE partially covered characters.
