First the artwork is created from the computer or artists hand. Each color is then separated onto film. The film is a transparent plastic sheet coated with a photosensitive emulsion. The film is then set aside to be flashed onto a screen.
A screen is a mesh fabric that is streched over a metal support frame. The fabric of the screen is coated with a photosensitive emulsion.
When the screen is ready, the film is placed on top of it. The film and screen then go into a camera where the film and screen get flashed with a bright light.
The light forces the emultion to set, where-as the parts that were covered by the film don't get set. The unset emultion is then washed away revealing the finished screen which has the negative of the image that will later go onto the dog tag.

ACID ETCHING is the other process in which the dog tags are " inlaid " in acid using various acid resists to create marks and textures.
Where the metal has been exposed to the acid the smooth surface is attacked, creating a texture which will hold ink.
The " Intel " tag shown below is acid etched, the other dog tags are silk screened.

Prices are based on customer furnished camera - ready artwork.
Color separations must have register marks for alignment of colors.

Camera Ready Artwork

Artwork sent via an email attachment is preferred.
JPEG and GIF are not acceptable formats.
Please use the TIFF format, between 150 - 200 Dots Per Inch works best.
Artwork sent via postal should be sent in
black and white on high quality bright white or photo paper.
Graphics must be actual size or slighty larger.

Proofs

No charge for for paper proof.
Add one week to delivery when proof is requested.

Delivery

Screened tags - 3 weeks . . .
Etched tags - 4 weeks . . .
Expediting charges may apply do to certain deadlines.
